Started out today to try and crack an imperial century. After 75 miles got hit with a 1 mile 15% climb! It killed me off however after walking to the top managed to tack on another 8 miles before packing it in.

Total of 84 miles in a day with a fair amount of climbing and its more than tripled my longest ever ride! At least my metric century is now done! Lol.

Well done !
I'm doing the Bristol Bike Night ride on 30th June - 100km starting at Blaise Castle... so I had better start getting some longer rides in. Longest so far is only 15 miles. Keep up the good work.

Nice and steady, lowish gears, plod along, let yourself recover from hills by a little push as you go over the top, seems daft but you will then relax and fly down the descent, which makes you feel mush better! 100 miles/160km, then the next thing 200km go by, and as has been said, once that's possible, confidence will grow. Just remember to keep fluids and eating (proper stuff as well as energy bars/gels) well topped up, as the distances go up.

Cheers guys.

Today starts with some brutal coastal hills finishing in lands end, nicely carbed up after tea yesterday and not asmany aches and pains! Lol.

If anyone asks the a39 is actually quite nice to cycle on down to wadebridge, lovely scenery

Well done kiwi, sounds like you may have succeeded with a few more calories on the day. I find a 5 minute rest while eating something loaded in calories can get you going again when you thought you were exhausted.

Still a great achievment and better luck on next attempt.

Managed the 215 miles quite easily (except the last 15 ish as we both developed really bad knee pains in our right knees! Not seat position related as we've both done lots of miles as is) had a puncture which involved having to unscrew a screw from my back tyre and has wrecked my lugano  will need to change tyres soon as have had to use my spech espoir!

Was really happy to hit lands end today, really nice weather for the cycle in, just spoilt after smashing all the hills down the a30 to being forced to walk up out of Penzance!
