I haven't cycle commuted for 3 weeks.

Worse than that actully as I haven't been on a bike at all for 23 days. During that time I have been:
  1. Sitting on a beach/by a pool - loads
  2. Eating a lot
  3. Avoiding exersise (I tried running twice but only managed 25 minutes each time before returning to the pool/beach/bar/fridge)
  4. Drinking alcohol
  5. Moving my belt out a notch
  6. Driving a car
  7. Sitting down
  8. Lying down
  9. Thinking about cycling some time soon(ish)
  10. Eating a lot
I've got man flu at the moment and decided to take my heavy hybrid out for my comeback ride as it was raining quite a bit and it's got disc brakes and guards. Did I mention the flu?

Anyway I did 33 miles and (BTW did I mention the heavy pannier?) every cell in my body protested and tried to make me stop and call a) a cab b) it a day.

But - I MADE IT ^_^:angel::bicycle::boxing::cheers::hyper::wahhey::highfive::thanks::ninja:

Sort of. I did 23 miles today on my road bike and still 3mph slower than my times in March! I also had my first pssssssssssssssss....oh bu**er. I was brilliant though and sorted it out with skill and elegance.

How come it takes 8 months to get fit and slim and 3 weeks to get panting and fat?

I know what you mean. After taking 2 weeks off in the USA with no cycling about a month ago, I found myself struggling to maintain 18mph on a route that I previously regularly hit 22 on with relative ease.
