My mum got annoyed a while ago when a family friend, who is loaded, wanted a lift from the train station. She openly told my mum "I wouldn't get a taxi because it would cost a fortune". She didn't offer any money for the 1.5 hour round trip. Although my mum would be too polite to refuse her if she asked again. I think she died so the problem has gone away

I recently declined to do an airport run for a distant family member.

Mrs D and I vowed some uears aho never to fly again. We could no longer square frivolous travel by air with our growing environmental awareness.

That being the case I told this family member that if they want to pollute their way to Las Vegas for a boys week away they can do it without me.

You think your mum died? Should you perhaps get a doctor to check?

Never discuss money, politics, or religion in polite company.
Never a lender nor a borrower be.
Never mix business with pleasure.
Never expect a favour to be returned.

I'm sure there are a lot more.

You need to start charging board. I would bet my best bike that her benefits are supposed to go towards her keep.

i charge £100 a month which leaves her with about £250 a month , it doesnt even cover her food but as she cant work due to health issues so tends to spend it on stuff that makes her happy but i have drawn the line at funding anything else for er ( she hasnt had her hair done in over 6 months but im not forking out when she has the means )
