Family ride to Paris

Hello,

would like to plan a family ride to Paris.

Does anyone know of any blogs where I can get as much information as possible about everything and anything, from route, to hotels, cycle stops, cheapest way to get back (assume regular French rails to Calais as in Europe train fares are much cheaper)
tips on Ferries as they all seem extortionate for foot passengers for few days...

Im just trying to callate as much info as possible so all advice welcome :-)

Thanks
Mimi

I remembered a write up from several years ago, and for once I managed to find it quickly!

I suspect there are others but that's the one I remembered.

Try the Avenue Verte route from Dieppe to Paris. It's clearly way marked. There are lots of town and villages on route with good boulangeries amply stocked with cakes and savouries. The majority of the route is on minor roads and voies verte - converted railway track beds. I pedalled it from Easter Monday through to Thursday. Is mainly flat and the hills where they do arise are not killers though they can be long drags.

Entering Paris is like traversing a post apocalyptic landscape with lots of redevelopment of industrial areas going on but it's straightforward with the Avenue Verte route.

Have a look at the web site. http://avenuevertelondonparis.co.uk/

There's also a route book that lists some of the accommodation available at the towns and villages en route. It's available on Amazon and Sustrans web sites.

In Paris I'd recommend the St Christopher Hostel, a couple of hundred yards from Gare Du Nord for the Eurostar and within easy walking distance to Sacre Couer.

I can't recommend any accommodation en route - I wild camped.
