I'm looking to take the family to Northern France for a cycling tour this Summer.
Anyone got any advice as to good locations, or spots to stay without having to lug all the camping gear along?
We'll probably sail from Portsmouth or Dover.
Look up the ride reports (on Informal rides) of the Fridays' tours to Newhaven, Dieppe and Paris and (last summer) to the Cotentin peninsula near Cherbourg. Heavenly riding without much traffic and very little in the way of obnoxious Brits abraod.
Looks good, although I was thinking about Portsmouth to Cherbourg, cycle down the coast to Mont-Sant-Michel, then St Malo -Portsmouth? There looks to be a number of campsites with cabins/gites along the way. Anyone ridden this route before?

I've done several trips around that area, including the coast route from St Malo to Cherbourg and on to Caen, nice riding with plenty of places to stay IMO.
