Apparently one of the players for Sale Sharks lives down our road but as that's a rugby league team not a rugby union team, we've never bothered to find out who or where.

I've got news for you...Sale Sharks are a Union team. Do you mean Salford Red Devils? They play at the same place

The only remotely famous person I lived near was Alan Wright the (tiny) Aston Villa footballer. He installed some very expensive, complicated automatic watering system for the hanging baskets on his house which we all thought was a bit ridiculous. We all just used watering cans

When I was a kid, we lived a few doors away from Kevin Keelan, the Norwich City goalkeeper. Went to school with his kids (2 were up themselves, youngest was lovely). No airs and graces, he was a nice man.
Martin Peters lived nearby too. His lad was at our school too, very quiet sort.

I used to live a couple of doors down from Nigel Mansell when I was much younger. He's roughly the same age as me. Regularly saw him and his dad preparing his race kart, on stands on his drive, when he was in his early teens.

My missus used to live next door to Shel McCrea, guitarist and lead singer with the Fortunes. She would come home from school and find her house surrounded by screaming fans, several times in the '60s and early '70s.
Her mum lived in the house until she died 4 years ago. The house was them sold to her niece.
Shel still lives next door. Lovely guy, but I've always known him as Andy Semple (his real name).
His brother was Andy Ross, the band leader on the original 'Come Dancing'.
