Didn't know it at the time, but Paul Simon lived two roads down from me when I were a nipper.

Didn't know it at the time, but I lived in a flat below a famous actor/comedian in Stockholm. We used to exchange pleasantries in the stairwell if we met each other.

My sister used to live next door to Leslie Grantham from Eastenders in Parsons Green. She said he was always arguing with his misses/girlfriend and seemed a total dick.

My brother-in-law used to live next door to Roald Dahl and was mates with his children. In fact RD offered my b-i-l a cigarette when he was 7 years old, which started a smoking habit that lasted 30+ years.

I've got news for you...Sale Sharks are a Union team. Do you mean Salford Red Devils? They play at the same place
Whoops. I'm sure you're right.

The rumour is that Daniel Craig has a house round here somewhere. No one knows quite which house it is though. There have been several reported local sightings including one of my sixth formers who worked in a Harrogate health club and spotted him in the pool!

At various times depending on where I was living:
Lots of musicians and Actors, some of whom you may have heard of

Jools Holland - He has now moved out, but his studio is still top of my road
Bob Godfrey - the late great animator of Rhubarb and Custard
Glen Tillbrook - Squeeze, still there
David Beckham - as a kid lived in the next road and shared a fence at the end of the garden
Charles Richardson - Crime Boss of the Richardson Gang who were the big rivals to the Krays (two nice daughters who we used to play with)
Andrew Gardner - Newsreader, and I was at school with his son
Helen Shapiro - Singer (walking back to happiness...)
Michael Frayn - Playright (and wife Claire Tomalin, writer and daughter Rebecca now a documentary maker)
Bobby Bleach - Contract hitman (Nice guy, but incapable of driving a car at less than 60 mph), his mum is still there
Most impressively we lived next to a guy called Patrick who let his house become the London warehouse for tonnes of imported cannabis, he was caught in Operation Juliette which became a book, a documentary and a film all in the 1980's

Slightly off topic but the other day I stopped partway through a ride (had to heft the bike through a stile) and right there was the legend that is Timmy Mallet picking blackberries with his bike also parked up. Had a bit of a chat about apple and blackberry pies and I was on my way. Thoroughly decent chap and a cyclist too.

Growing up we lived on the same avenue as HARRY MARKHAM but I hadn't a clue TBH. I can remember my Mum saying that man had been in Corrie, but he couldnt compete with my Raleigh Chipper so I wasn't bovvered.

Also keeping the Corrie link, KATY CAVANAGH went to my primary school, and now I'm only a few minutes away from Peter Kay and Stu Francis.............Bolton - where the stars sign brightest :surrender:
