Every time on the bbc news they go live to journalist Jeremy Bowen I prey just one time there's been a mixup in the bookings department and instead

"We go live to Jim Bowen. What's the situation on the ground in Aleppo?"

"Smashing, terrific, great. "

There was that priceless TV interview where (I think) security expert had bèen booked. The same day a suited and booted gentleman had turned up for a job interview as a security guard.

The poor chap tried his best to bumble his way through some live TV question on security in the middle east or whatever it was. I do hope they gave him the job he'd come for. I'd have hired him

My mum used to live downstairs from Bertie Auld(Celtic) in Panmure Street,Glasgow.
My Uncle Robert used to have a scrap or ten with him apparently

Most impressively we lived next to a guy called Patrick who let his house become the London warehouse for tonnes of imported cannabis, he was caught in Operation Juliette which became a book, a documentary and a film all in the 1980's
Sure it wasn't LSD in the 70s? And Operation Julie, rather than Juliette, immortalised by The Clash.

Gary Stevens of Everton and Rangers fame lived at the end of my road, in a small one bedroomed flat with his wife. I don't imagine many England internationalists live in such modes homes nowadays.

And was/is a physio in the hospital in Chester. He didn't like to talk of his glory days either. They were the days I used to go and watch Everton every week, it was great.

Or we at least see the animated bull walking across the bottom of the TV screen making random mooing noises...

I think a different operation.
I remember the police going in about 4am one morning, inner and outer cordons, multiple full SWAT teams in our garden back and front, helicopter and enough blue lights to run a disco.
I'm guessing about 1984-85, and I'm fairly sure it was industrial levels of cannabis not LSD.

The story was the gang bought in boat loads from Morocco to a beach in deepest darkest Wales. The beach was about 5 miles down a land-rover track to the nearest road. So as transport the gang bought 3 serious off road 4X4's to transport the bales from beach to storage in Lewisham, S E London.

They also needed a boat to transfer the bales from the ship to the beach and so bought a boat they kept on the beach in a specially constructed hidden bunker.

So about once a month, in the early hours of the morning the three off road 4x4's, with big rally lights and covered in mud literally up to the roof would arrive next door to us in Lewisham and offload the cargo for onward distribution.

Our neighbour, as he only played a minor part I think was sentenced to about 2 or 3 years of which he must have done about half as he was back by the time I moved out in 1988

I remember that story, particularly the "secret cave" for the boat. Was Howard Marks involved?

Janice Batttersby from Coronation Street lives in Accrington. I once saw her driving down Burnley Road in an open top sports car. Now I live in North Wales where Les Battersby lives! I saw him 2 weeks ago in Colwyn Bay. He used to work at the tyre and battery place across the road from me, until it closed down.

In the 90's, I lived in Box, near Corsham. Peter Gabriel's Realworld Studios were a few minutes walk from the flat and he lived about quarter of a mile away in the valley.

My office was on the same industrial park as Aardman Animation. Nick Parkes himself was occasionally seen in the local shop buying his sandwiches
