I always fancied being a cycle courier as my "Plan B" job. Trouble is I'd only want to do it on dry days... 100 miles ain't fun in the wet!

Comes across as a nice guy and no way looks 49. Guy obviously loves what he does and good to see he is not like a typical courier in his bike choice.

On the subject of couriers. Was talking to a guy 2 days ago who used to be a courier in Glasgow. It and was interesting what Steve was saying that there are still things that need delivered and the internet can't do. Glasgow is in no way on the same scale as London but 5 years ago there were 50 bike couriers in Glasgow. Today there are only 5!!

He comes over as having a good attitude towards the job. I don't think I'd have done!

I met this German ex-courier in the Pyrennees. Forget which city, in the NE of Germany IIRC, possibly Dusseldorf as it was near the Dutch border. He was cycle touring on the compensation he'd got for being knocked off. He said he would prefer not go back to it. Probably about 26 or 27 years old, had no idea what to do when his money ran out. He was going to visit his girl friend who lived in Spain and we rode together as far as Figueres after which I returned to France having seen the Dali museum.
