Listening to Radio Four during my drive home tonight was more pleasurable than normal as one of the programs was a deconstruction of Vidor's toccata. All aspects of the complexities of playing the piece were covered and the hairs stood up on the back of my neck when the bass kicked in.

Wanting more I visited Youtube and discovered this fancy piece of foot pedal mastery:

That is impressive.

I can do a chord with my right hand, but that's where my dexterity ends - just the one hand - never mind using both feet and both hands together, that's just mad skillz (as the kids say!).

Curiously I heard (on R3 Thursday?) and interview with Gillian Weir, in which they played a recording of her performing Poulec's Organ Concerto. Absolutely fantastic.

It's satisfying to see a woman who knows what she's doing with a big organ

Amazing - thanks for sharing that with us.
From someone with no musical talent whatso ever - could never get the fingers right on my recorder at school!

Obvioulsy this is classed as multi-tasking & therefore a man would be incapable of playing so well
