The tyre bead is sat in the rim all the way round - the photo shows how much gap is left i.e. the diameter of the bead exceeds that of the rim by a fair bit.

No way can that be seated; so how many pounds you owe me?

I checked with magnet and the steel wire is intact - I assumed it was one strand that had snapped but I am guessing there is a loop of thinner wire that has come unstuck and allows the rim to stretch.

No matter ewhat the casue is, this tyre is foooked on the one side. :becool:

I reckon he owes you a new house!

i reckon you have a 700c tyre marked up wrong
you're being silly now. the original thread states he cycles 200 miles on it, so your explanation looks highly unlikely.

anyway, to 0274. the well of the wheel (where the rim tape sits) is, obviously, of a smaller diametre than the bead seat of the wheel, otherwise you'd be unable to get the tyre on at all.
that when you sit the tyre in the well of the wheel, there's some spare doesn't surprise me at all.
we've got two options here. either a schwalbe tyre's failed after 200 miles...or you've failed at fitting it. i know where my bet would be:tongue:

i've included a picture of a rim, to help you understand about the well.
