I'm so fed up with posting these points that I ask if they and other FAQs can be made "sticky" for all to view:
1 - Talc is the best fitting and removing lubricant for sticky new or very tight tyres. Sprinkle it all over the bead.
2 - Poor gear shifting is usually caused by a worn rear derailleur cable outer. These are stressed at the curve and they wear fast so they can do with being replaced routinely every six months.
3 - All cyclists should programme the local Police non-emergency number into their 'phones and use it to report drivers who drive dangerously, in a way that causes alarm or who threaten. Police forces are now using the Police National Computer to log reports of bad driving - any car with a report that is seen by a patrol car equipped with ANPR will get stopped for a chat and three reports will earn the driver a visit at home from the Police.
..any others?
