A very fine actor, sad to see him go at only 64. For me the defining role was surely Brassed Off. There are not many like him.

Saw him play Macbeth in Liverpool and he was amazing. I've never forgotten that performance, even though it was 12 years ago (wow, that makes me feel old!).

RIP, one of the greats who'll be sorely missed.

I agree 'Brassed Off' was a highlight, especially the speech in the Albert Hall. I also remember him with Sean Bean in 'When Saturday Comes'

He was one of my favourite character actors, and his passing will be a great loss to the country.

Brassed Off, Alien 3, Jurassic Park -The Lost World, Name Of The Father... Anyone remember a TV drama about the guys who paint electricity pylons? - Great stuff!
