Does anybody know what she actually did? I remember that she wrote a column for the Sunday Times magazine for a year or two, which was entertaining for the first few months.

She would occasionally contribute to the motoring pages of the Sunday Wail, and mainly used to write sycophantic drivel about whichever free car she was poncing around in that week.

I remember her as a presenter on The Word, or perhaps one of its successors. She was not a good presenter, as I remember, and I didn't particularly enjoy her appearances, although I feel bad about saying that.

She seemed a harmless socialite ,but unfortunately harmful to herself.
I thought she was ok.

She made headlines with a £400-a-day cocaine addiction i've just read. I suppose having so much money you don't know what to do with it is a problem to some CCers as well.

Or is that time rather than money?

Nah, I've just always enjoyed the company of 'High Octane' women and have been lucky enough to have 'known' a couple in my mis-spent youth and Tara was very high octane.
The sad thing is that often women like that are very lonely souls hiding behind outrageous behaviour.
oo you so and so mr raleigh

Yes, a lot of truth in your last line - folk who seem "life and soul"/ ever "up for it" aren't always what they seem.

Nice that you can look back on your high octane women fondly.

As for Tara, i was only ever vaguely aware of her and her media exploits and someone with her reputation for the spotlight and her background wouldn't necessarily have been someone I thought much of.

But I have memories of a single viewing of her on TV years ago. Was watching with a pal who would probably share my general views. My memory is that we were both struck by how she came across as a warm genuine and brave soul.

RIP
