I was academic consultant on that one. It was an OU/BBC production. Glad you liked it ;)!

Mrs Wigs is obsessed with Farmville! She wastes hours and hours of an evening on it. my facebook account is for organising nights out with my mates then abusing them afterwards....

Thats about it.

Meeja hore!

Aaaarse FM you're just jealous!!! ;)

@rh100 I worked on the script for programmes three and four and made the production team tone it down because they kept wanting to make it revelatory 'they know everything about you and you can't do anything about it' etc. My research area is consumer and worker surveillance and so I gave them some helpful hints and tips - we attended viewings, production meetings etc.

Does wiping your cookies and cache make much difference in this regard? say I used google or yahoo one day, clear my cookies then use it again, would I still be seen as the same (although anonymous) user or would the queries be unrelated?

No...and yes. You will still have your IP address logged. Your ISP usually changes IP every few weeks, but you could always be indentified from it if needed, if you dont clear your cookies, they can then link your old ip to your new one so in effect they still linkable. Cookies take precedence over IP in any targetting or analysis though. IP's are harder to trust as you could have multiple users using one IP address in a wireless network.

EDIT: Now gonna be carefull what I say as Kirstie is watching ;)

Nothing like a bit of paranoia to get people interested

It's ok...im not a techy either (other than my natural geekiness). It was good though and i've sent a link around to various other web geeks in Silly Valley.

We've worked together since 1999...and have started a number of dodgy enterprises in collaboration...the less said the better ha ha.

Obviously I'm the brains behind it all
I suspected as much!
