12 miles at an average of 17.8 mph from Swanley to Greenwich in 38.31mins.

Return journey 12.5 miles with a few more hills, which lowered the average speed to 16.9mph in 45.58mins.

Smashed my quickest time by 2.40mins, the loss of three stone might have helped.

This improved weather really inspires the need for speed, see ya out on the road.

Sigh! In 1994 when I used to commute 14 miles I averaged about 17mph there and 14mph back. Now I've started again on a 5 mile commute and I can only manage 15mph and 11.5mph respectively. Must have got old and fat... Sigh!

Good going ss. My commute is too hilly to average anything like that and hybrid is not really suited to speed.

Well Done, its a good felling isnt it !

I seem to have got faster of late, changing back to skinny slicks and wearing Lycra seems to have helped, you have to pedal harder to justify dressing like that !

Used to be happy with 15 mph on the speedo, now it feels slow and 19 mph feels about right, averaging between 16 and 18 mph over my 7 miles daily and have turned into the bloke that used to really annoy me, the one that overtakes you when you are slogging seemingly with little effort and says a cheery "Morning" to compund your misery, not every time but enough to please the side of my nature I am not proud of

Though a rather Epic headwind the other night meant 9 mph for significant stretches.

I'm still very new to commuting and am getting faster at a nice rate so far. According to Cyclogs, my average speed for the last few months of last year was12 mph over about 45 miles, March this year is my next lot of logs with 12mph over 28 miles (I had a lazy winter) - April is over 14mph and my monthly total is currently about 85 miles (14¾ mph over 28 miles today)
