"penalise adult cyclists who ride on pavements, to book them for dangerous driving when they’re cutting lights or riding two abreast on unsuitable roads."

In amongst all the p!sh there's that. Not 100% on the final point, but the other two are valid.

"...my colleague Matthew Parris who jokingly suggested that life in his village would be improved by piano wire strung across the roads to decapitate the hugely annoying cyclists."

It's depressing...

Click bait, i won't give the Spectator the hits they seek. And this is wife beating racist Rod Liddle is it? His opinions are worthless, he's just a broadsheet Richard Littlejohn with a hint of jeremy Kyle.

I would like to cycle over his face while he is on the pavement, just to compound his "pedestrians killed by cyclists" theory. Complete and utter prick!!

why does eveybody have a problem with a cylcist jumping a red light? If the road ahead is clear, then why should traffic stop? The road is no different to a dotted line where one stops, checks nothing is coming from the sides or tuning right from the opposite direction and proceedds with care.

A cyclist is unlikley to cause insjury to someone in a car, bus or lorry; and if the cyclist themselves get hit, then they should have looked first - in fact, even when going through a green light they should look just as much.

they have "right turn on left" in USA which work well.

what it boils down to is jealousy - car drivers cannot stand it when someone, especilaly on a bike, makes progress whilst they themselves are stuck in traffic. ... perhaps if mor of them got their fat arses on a bike, then there would be more forward progress. (I wish I could do that but my commute is a bit too far whcih is really annoying me; used to be 3.5 miles, now is11 miles due to job change  )

Maybe not physical injury but being part in the death of someone isn't a throw away part of your day . Can you imagine how you would feel if you ran someone over and killed them . I doubt anyone would think it was fine because they had right of way .
Ive seen a few deaths on the roads and although ive never actually been part of the cause I have been there to see and help in what has happened after . Its never nice .
