RIP

This is on one of my regular commutes. Drunk or drugs make little difference on this section of road. From before the m25 bridge through to the Weybridge turn off there's at least one trap for cyclists every 50 yards. When I go that way, which I avoid if at all possible, I come out the other end exhausted just from the effort to save my own skin.

I'd agree with that. When ever I used to go that way, either direction, I'd try and hold a good speed so that people were more likely to be a bit more patient. IMO, the bit over the bridge is worst as it is a fast moving road, and the bridge does narrow. As the roads are so busy people can't overtake in the other lane, but seem to be able to force past stiil.

I cycle that route most days and agree with the last couple of posters about what it's like.

It's a fast run down Parvis Road going from West Byfleet towards Weybridge, but then you lose a little speed going over the m25 bridge, where the road also narrows. That's when the drivers behind can start getting impatient, either overtaking before the top of the bridge (i.e. blind) or on the downslope towards the roundabout - often into oncoming traffic (whilst I'm trying to avoid an inconveniently placed manhole cover and taking primary to avoid left hooks at the rab).

Traveling the other way, as the victim was, is just as bad. You're coming from a couple of roundabouts and relatively narrow and busy roads which often encourages the less safe drivers to take risks overtaking before the bridge.

Some of the kids putting flowers out yesterday looked pretty shaken up. My sympathies go out to them and the family.
