I have caused controversy on the slow bicycle movement by posting this photo:

Apparently it's fattist. I'm not fattist! Some of my best friends are fat. Hell, I'm even a bit plump myself!

I don't get that picture. Is this a contra-flow bike lane?

I saw the photo, missed the outrage though. Will go back and look more carefully.
I would've expected the outrage from that group to be at the term "fast" though, surely?!

I am fat, I have mostly held onto the belief because I retain very strong and muscular legs and shoulders that I get away with it, but then my 6 year old daughter told me her friends think I am fat. Sort of put me in my place.

I don't see any problems with that picture at all.

I started it with the byline - even riding slow I get to work faster by bike than by car or bus. I didn't really compute the fat part of it until one poster start belthering about me delightedly shaming fat kids and that being gross! Bah! I think some people are a bit oversensitive.

I'd be encouraging my daughter to make different friends if the ones she has are concerned about fat at six!
