I bought this frame along with my K14 cycle. I had been watching it on the bay but decided on the K14 complete. When I went to pick up my K14 I asked about the frame and bought it on the spot. I didn't notice that the bike had been in a head on crash and bent the frame. No use crying over spilled milk!
The frame is made up of triangular section tubing, even the rear stays. The frame was minus the front forks so I will have to find something along with the other bits needed.
I was mulling over an idea of how I might straighten the frame. I came up with an idea of fitting an old BB off my Pinarello and then fitting a pair of old cranks and chain rings on to push against and fitting an old front fork off a mountain bike in the steerertube. I was going to use my old 4 ton hydraulic ram to ease the frame back straight.
It took a while to set it up and I was a bit nervous of how the frame would react under load. It took a couple of goes before it straightened out. I placed a block of wood on the high spot of the bend in the frame and gave it a couple of blows with a hammer. I checked the frame with a steel rule and it looks pretty straight.
Today I thought I would try fitting some parts on it to see what it would look like when fitted up, all the parts are borrowed from other bikes or parts bin. I measured the wheelbase just being curious and it comes out at 37.25ins, pretty short!
