The opening scene of Gravity. If you haven't seen it yet, it's 13 minutes of stunning cinematography, ubelievably realistic CG, it's very slow, quite pedestrian and is just generally astronauts chit -chatting while on a spacewalk. Nothing much happens, and it builds brilliantly to the looming accident. However, it seduces you into the environment of space along with the dreamlike floating camerwork & 3D, so you get about 7 minutes in and don't notice any cuts!. Frankly, it's so mesmerising, I could have happily watched it all day.
There are many other long shots in this movie which are wonderful to watch. In fact, there's no irritating fast MTV-style cutting, no sudden jump cuts. It's all geared so that you have time to look at the detail. Perfect antidote to most action flicks. Love it:smile:

Have you seen Children of Men by the same director? There's a great scene in that where the camera follows Clive Owen from outside a building, across a road with a gun battle going on, into another building and up several flights of stairs - again it all seems like one single shot, it's brilliant.

Which reminds me - my vote would be for this:

I think it is all one single shot... that along with the brilliant car scene that leads up to the ambush.. but to avoid posting any spoilers for those that haven't seen Children of Men, the opening scene is worth posting ...

The Final Countdown; the scene where two Grumman F14A Tomcats climb out having overflown the Senator's yacht. If you like fast jets, my word this is good!

Apologies for the lack of a clip, but I'm such an I.T. muppet that even if I could find the clip I wouldn't know how to insert it!
