When it comes to You tube, my favourites always seem to be the most naff, and this is no exception, but at the same time, look how graceful that thing is!!
Enjoy this soviet film of the biggest plane in the world doing what it originally was designed to do!:

And this is good also if you ever want to see a Lightning at a bus stop or going round a roundabout.
It gets to it's best from about 2:12 onwards .... and not a hard hat in sight in this film from 1990!

I just wonder what the conversation was at about 3:40

'Excuse me Madam, but there is a plane driving up your street, can you move your car please?':

Now, Hollywood is often slagged for getting things wrong, but every so often, they film something which becomes historic even within the same decade that it was filmed. This is such a case.

Within a few years, this, the B36, had been ousted by the B52s, and the last of the great Propeller driven (yes, they had jets too!) U.S. bombers were gone, but from the end of the war until about 1957, these were at the forefront of the west's nuclear deterent.

Anyway, sit back and just watch this absolute gem of a film with start up, taxi, take off and flying sequences all in glorious technicolour and with Jimmy Stuart!

What would otherwise have become an obscure footnote in aviation history has been immortalised forever by Hollywood:
