I have an older steelie( lovely old woodrup) but the crankset/ fd/rd and cassette is a bit of a mix , 105 compact campag fd , dura ace rd and some shimano 8spd cassette .
The fd doesn't shift enough and it chain rubs a bit ( du think this is cos its campag with shimano brifters),
Iv always thought this was the case and just lived with it( ,in fact I was told it's an incompatibility issue by a bike mech), so Iv decided at last to get this sorted , will I need a diff fd or just set up properly , it's rather narrow tubing ( less than 30 mm and its a double crank/ bottom pull
If I need a diff fd does any shimano unit of the right diameter and for a double do it( eg does it need to b 105 to match crank

Any Shimano FD will do.

I'm surprised the Shimano Brifter won't pull enough cable for a Campag mech though.
