Feel safer on my bike than in a car

Doesn't take much speed to snap a spine in two. I was doing just 13mph when a motorist turned right across my path.

I feel far safer in a car. I rarely cycle in traffic now because of so many close passes and general idiotic driving. I actually feel safer on my motorbike because I'm never on auto-pilot, can accelerate out of trouble, can stop quicker (in the dry) and due to the width I have more escape routes. On the bicycle it often feels like there is nowhere to go but into the curb or under the wheels of a truck.
