First frost for me this morning, first one I've noticed anyway. I've been wearing fingerless gloves this week, today my fingers were so cold I had trouble operating the brakes. They warmed up once I'd sprinted a couple of hills. Probably time to get the proper gloves out and put the armwarmers away 'till spring.

3c for me this morning, was lovely, have been worried about the temp and how I would cope but I fiond the best way is to not leave my gear in the garage, hang it on a rad so by the time you get out you are after some cooling down, leave it in the garage and putting it on is no fun !

Has anyone got a cut off temp, below which they wuss out ?

It hasn't started to visably frost here yet, but the temperature has noticeably dropped. I don't have a specific cut off point per se, but probably in 3-4 weeks I'll be starting to revert to longs and jumpers!

It wasn't frosty in town, but it was once I got the the rural part of my commute.

Definitely longs for me on top now, but I'll stick with the shorts and legwarmers for a few weeks yet.

Wuss out because it gets cold ? What kind of big jessie do you take me for ?!! ;):biggrin:

I stopped commuting by bike for a few days last December, but only because there was so much black ice on the 11th that I fell off 5 times in 10 miles and did a fair bit of damage to the bike. I had to wait for the parts to arrive before I could ride it again !

I've only managed to fall off three times in 10 miles.

I don't generally wuss out, I do change the roads I use if it's icy or snowing.

By the time I decided to change my route, I couldn't go on-road because one of the falls had snapped off my rear-light bracket so I had no rear light. I didn't fancy being in traffic with possibly more black ice around, and being illegal in the lack of lighting department. Plus I'd bent the hanger and knackered the rear derailleur so I'd lost gears and those I had were skipping and slipping - so not really in the safest position to mix it with fast-moving traffic !

It was so bad on one of the streets that I go along (I came off twice on a straight road) that I could barely stay upright when I was walking. The pavement and road were just one big sheet of ice - and the pavement sloped slightly downwards into the road. I was sliding along, grabbing onto hedges with my left hand and trying to wheel the bike along with my right. Took me 20 minutes to cover what would normally take a minute on the bike !!

Longs out this morning... it was bloody freezing.

Being a baldie my head and ears nearly fell off when I was doing 40 mph down the big hill on wa to work.

Fingerless gloves stayed at home and full gloves came out with me today.

Winter is here ( well for me anyway).

I'm only skinny so I feel the cold. ( 6ft 3 and 13 stone)

I rode to the workshop at 6am, it was freezing, quite a lot of ice, sideways around lots of corners, I saw a couple of two wheelers go down, had a few comments from car drivers about how I looked to be enjoying drifting the trike in the ice, major grin factor, but it was so cold, I was glad of breakfast in the cafe when I got in.

eh? frost in Watford?

chilly here in NE London but nothign vaguely like frost

Ice is horrid but London's mostly big important roads with loads of traffic sweeping them clear of everything other than tarmac

and potholes

been in longs and new winter gloves for a week now and it feels entirely appropriate

Was a bit frosty on Wednesday morning in SE London. This morning it was lovely again. We've been dead lucky with the weather down here in the last 4 weeks or so. It's been great. Only got peeshed on once so far.
