The chuffed-ness comes from an average of just over 12mph on an 18-mile spin I've just done, mostly level roads but with a few 'undulations'.

Small beer, most people will say. Well for me, I can only say that it used to be my average of about 4 or 5 years ago, since then sadly in decline. I rarely surpass 10mph these days.

It's all relative. For me, an oldie in declining health, 12mph feels as good as - say - 18mph in a younger, fitter, cyclist.
