I ate my wife's placenta raw in a smoothie and cooked in a taco

Apparently the practice is more common in Brighton than anywhere else, with around one in eight mothers taking their placenta home with them.

Has anyone on here tried eating it? Any midwives or nurses on here familiar with this?

I thought 'Cafe' would be the best place to ask

Its done in nature a lot as its full of nutrients.

Aye, but most of nature haven't got McDonald's or that chicken place whose name escapes me just now - why would I want to eat placenta if I could eat a load of rubbish at either of them?

It happened mainly in the 70's I think. Heard of it a few times, but not for a long time now.

Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall did this back in the 1990's! Had a whole programme on it, although he did cook it first.
I in 8 seems far too high, even in Brighton.

What would I do? I think I'd probably let the doctor/nurse/midwife dispose of. Not that I object to others partaking, each to their own and all that.

Presumably it is an entirely personal thing and you don't get people hanging round the maternity wards offering to buy unwanted placentas.
