Witnessed a cat get run over today. daft thing ran from my side of the road only to be hit by the kerbside wheels of the car coming the opposite direction. the passenger looked horrified; luckily for her she didn't have the view I had.

I pulled up, it was thrashing about and in a bad way but I think it was just the death throes as it expired shortly after. the only thing I could do was move it to the verge so it didn't get mashed up.

Rubbish start to the day...

horrible. How sad.

Myself and Mista Preston of this parish came across a cat that had just been run over.
I picked it up to put on the verge and it was still very warm. Poor kitty. Sad knowing it's someones loved pet.
I remember being overtaken at speed by a BMW just earlier.

I ran over a cat (in my car) a few years ago and killed it. It was early in the morning and no-one was around, so all I could really do was move it to the side of the road - it had no collar on. A couple of hundred yards down the road I met a police car. I flagged him down and explained that I'd just ran over a cat. "Did you kill it?" he asked. I confirmed that I had. "Good", the copper said, "I bloody hate cats!"

Edit - I am not of the same opinion. Though currently catless I have had cats as pets for most of my adult life.

I killed one once, probably 25 years ago or so. For those who know it, between the town and Springlands roundabout in Sudbury. Quite late at night, me on a motorbike, decided to let it rip. Probably doing 70'ish when a cat shot out from the path, missed the front wheel, went under the bike and under the back wheel. I didn't come off so went back to see the cat who was stone dead. I put it on a grass verge. I was thankful it hit the back wheel and not the front at that speed or I may have joined it.

On my commute a few days ago someones dog had escaped their grasp, I could see it running towards the road in front of me, so I slammed the anchors on - Stopped in the middle of the road. Some idiot in a car then swerves around me (a good few seconds after I had stopped - in a 30 zone, plenty of time for car to stop) and hits the poor dog.

Luckily the car had managed to knock some speed off, and the dog ran away limping, so could have been worse. The driver stopped - Terrible bit of driving though.

Poor wee furry daft thing: I type this with one sleeping on my lap.
It was good of you to stop and move him off the road.

Witnessed a neighbour's cat get run over by her dad - horrible. They were talking outside, and dad got in his van and started it, just pulled forward and the cat was somehow under the wheels. The screams, then they scooped it up and took it inside. The lass was in bits. Not nice.

My niece has had a kitten run over - it had escaped, dad went out to find it, and it was dead at the side of the road. Upsetting.

Saw a dog get 'away' with it a few years back - you could see it was going to cross the road, I'd slowed in the car, but some old fool didn't and struck the dogs back end. Fortunately the dog was spun out of the way and it ran off.

I remember my first pet cat when I was a kid. He was run over by a car.
I was devastated!

I witnessed a Great Dane dog (small horse size!) hit by a car (think it was a Micra), it was already on the run from its owners garden, the dog just got up and carried on, the owner following. I think the lady car driver was more distressed.

Saw one squashed on the road yesterday when I was out on the bike. Was beyond lifting it was in such a mess. Made me feel sick as I am an animal lover. Typing this with my lovely Siamese on my lap just now. Fortunately she is an indoor cat so should never meet that fate.

Ran over a cat on my motorbike once. The daft thing had shot out from between some parked cars just as I was passing them. Had no time to react as I felt my wheels ride over it.

I turned around to check on the cat, but had found it lying stone dead. Managed to track down the owner and give him the remains.

I nearly ran over a Rottweiler with my motorbike due to some owners stupidity of not securing their back gate. When I see dog owners walking down the street with dogs off the lead, I really dispair.

I also witnessed a cat being struck by a car, it flapped around as going through the death throws. On closer inspection the cat was a mess with half its brains on the road. I felt sorry for the kids nearby who had to witness that.
