Not sure about female Glasgow commuters (as I don't live there) but there were plenty of females doing the Pedal for Scotland Glasgow to Edinburgh run a couple of Sundays ago - also plenty of female commuters in Edinburgh, in fact probably as many females as males perhaps?!? I imagine a large student population adds to this, plenty of students in Glasgow surely...?

I live near glasgow and commute in regularly. Can't say there are many commuters at all compared to what I see on videos/tv for London & the south - probably the roads and weather don't help.

On my 20mile commute I don't see that many people (I start early) and come to think of it there are no ladies. At work there is only one I know of......so, all in all...... no I don't think there are many female commuters, but then again there aren't that many males either.......

I believe you're right although I have come across a student or two around the west end. I do think there are a number of female cyclists in clubs and cycling for pleasure, doing events etc - Just not commuting. Weather is bad and cycle routes are just OK .. getting better though

HlaB, watch it!

As others have said, there aren't many cycle commuters generally. It has certainly improved over the years, but numbers are still no where like London or Edinburgh.

I do see lady cyclists, but they are in a minority. I think Glasgow is still a tough city to cycle in compared to some, but it is getting better....just slowly.

There are a few lady cycle commuters about - I see one or two fairly regularly on my commute. Of the three regular commuters in my part of the office, one is a young lady. Guess you've just not been looking hard enough.

You do see some, yes, but (as Magnatom also says) from what I've seen, they are certainly a minority.

That is just on the road though.

When I used to cycle to/from College years ago on 'The Tank', there were always quite a few* using the 'feeder' Cycle track to/from Speirs Warf out onto the main track through Anniesland etc.

The cycle track is generally perceived to be safer you see, despite how snobby people on here are about them.

* - Not massive numbers, but certainly more than on the road.

Hmm -

I occasionally spend a night in Glasgow with work, staying near the exhibition centre. I walk to work over the squinty bridge. I'm always impressed just how many commuters there are!

It certainly looks much better than Aberdeen anyway.

There are a growing number in Edinburgh. In addition, there are many young ladies in the Edinburgh Road Club group that we pass every Saturday morning outside the Commie Pool.

Every person I see on a bike (in general, not just commuters) are men. Since I've had a bike (start of the year) I've never seen a female cyclist. Seriously.

I cycle into Glasgow city centre from the Southside and do see a few female commuters. I'd say mostly male but there are a few.

I see one woman every day cut towards Glasgow airport from Renfrew. During the summer I saw two woman in the tunnel. Not seen them for a while. When I am walking the dogs I see a fair few in the West End, and dressed in normal work clothes... very European!
