Funny enough I've just done something similar today. I had something stuck to my front tyre and I was worried that I would get a puncture so I reached down with my finger to flick it off. I only clipped the tyre and realised that it might take my finger end off so I made a fist and used the gloved knuckle to knock the foreign object off. It worked and I carried on oblivious but might exact a bit more caution in the future after hearing this story.

Thought about trying a hollow punch, like the ones you can get for making extra holes in belts (as you lose weight, naturally)?

Good idea, think my granddad's got one.

On a slightly lighter note, when I was a lad I had a Triumph 500 speed twin, the choke was operated by a lever on top of the carburettor, I got into the habit of flicking the choke off after I had moved away and got about a hundred yards down the road, that was until the day I reached down under the tank and got a handful of HT cable.

You were a bright spark, weren't you!
