Is this one of those things where everyone has to join in the five minute hate, the alternative being that they must otherwise be a wholehearted supporter?

I don't hate, I'm not a big fan either, I just don't see why you get a load of nonsense if you happen to mention any of his failings. If it's meant to be a 'praise only of his hat thread' then that should have been stated at the outset.

I had hoped that as it's a Café thread and the subject approach taken in the OP it would have remained a thread which did not focus too much on the political (there is a thread in SC&P which could be used for that) but rather on the lighter side of his persona e.g. his hat, his beard, his cigars, old cars in the street, Gloria Estevan, Olympic boxers, Miss Goodbody enjoying a Fidel. But, alas.
