Yesterday at lunchtime I reported two potholes on my regular commuting route using the CTC's site.

This morning on my way in one of them has been marked with white paint. I don't know about the other one as I used a different route today. I suppose it could be a coincidence, it does seem extraordinarily fast. I know this doesn't mean they will fill it straight away but if this is a result of the site then I am very impressed.

In other folks experience how long has does it normally take to get them filled in?

I think you can add photos but I'm not that organised. There's a link to google maps with a little marker flag and you add a verbal description of it's location. It's really easy to use. It only took a couple of minutes. You can report drain covers and other stuff too.

hello, as i work for the highways depot on a council, i know that reports from these sort of websites get done pretty quick, dunno the reason for it, but they just do.
i know this cos i'm the person that repairs the potholes lol

I've reported a few (they have to be really bad otherwise I'd be reporting half the road surface I ride on) and is seems to be the ones I have added photos of get fixed faster. One section of residential roundabout was completely resurfaces after I posted pictures of it's lunar-like surface

The reason is that the council can't then use the "We are sorry that you broke your neck after you hit that pothole but we inspected that road 3 months ago and there were no potholes then" excuse!

Once the councils know about dangerous potholes then they have a duty to fix them.

I was annoyed by a nasty local one which had been left unfilled for over a year. I finally reported it and it was filled within a couple of days!

If only Manchester had the same attitude.

I came off due to a pothole on Portland St last April and reported it straight away. Still not fixed - but that particular road has a dreadful surface for a lot of its length.

i think on average we do about 50/60 potholes a day, plus we do overlays, edge work, cracking, centre line deteriation, i think our record is 260 potholes in a day!!

as a cyclist myself, potholes are filled pretty quick in this town lol

I think it depends on which Local Authority. I reported a bunch of them, some in Salford and some in Bolton. The Salford ones were done pretty quickly, but I'm still waiting for the Bolton ones two months later.

Photography27, my hats off, you are a hero. I always wave when I see our local gang at work. One character wears an enormous foam rubber stetson so they are pretty distinctive . . .
