You can interpret the figures in a number of ways - but when it comes to the number of holes reported Surrey reigns supreme. Those of you who live in Suffolk or Essex have no clue about bad roads!

It's fair to say that a lot of Surrey is just mud - Cobbett claims to have seen excavations at Ewhurst revealing no firm bed for the first 18 feet - but you'd have thought they'd have got around to working out how to build roads on mud before now.

None of us will be surprised to read that January 2010 was a bumper month for holes.... http://www.fillthathole.org.uk/hazards/monthly_totals

My main problem is that I'm seeing so many that I get home and can't remember where they all are. If I have the time/traffic willing I stop and take a photo but I've been in a rush normally. However on my way home today there were temporary traffic lights and people looking at one stretch of poor road surface so I'm hoping by the end of the week that might be better.

They haven't filled the ones I have reported last month yet.

I wonder why the total reports figure doesn't match the sum of open and fixed reports. Any ideas anyone?

I went on a run at the weekend, and the 'chip coated' road surface on one road has ended up as loose gravel outside wheel tracks......flippin dangerous for bikes....

The coating had been down for some time, but the cold/ice has obviously got into it...

dont believe it, east ayrshire is 6th best and south ayrshire is 207th 6th worst, dont see much difference traveling from one to the other.
results cant be very accurate when you only have a few holes reported.

I'm surprised that Wandsworth beat Hammersmith and Fulham. The roads in Wandsworth seem to be breaking up before my very eyes. It's 2012 out there...

Personally Surrey CC should be lower, a hell of a lot lower, and holes filled in properly... never... Most I report dont ever get looked at, ever! But just like Summerdays, its too bleeding hard to remember them all right now, theres tooo many of them!!

Unfortunately I drove in the dark into a chasm-like pit near Goodwood and buggered my whole wheel / suspension etc. I suspect the repair will cost more than the car.

Having posted against people claiming against councils for pothole-related damages in a former thread, I find eveyone I meet (in real life) saying "you ought to claim against the council"

It's a bugger as it will be expensive, but it was the middle of nowhere on an unlit road and I just collapsed in.

I'll be treating as one of life's many buggers - I really don't blame the council - my fault ultimately

82nd. The one I reported took a few days short of 3 months to fill in, it wasn't minor irrelevance on a cul-de-sac either it was a main road.

Actually thinking about it Goodwood is a private domain owned by The Earl Of March

I suspect he owns all the roads - he certainly shuts them all for the Festival of Speed/ Revival. Maybe he's to blame.

Although in reality it was me that drove into the hole
