I think it should have been kermode, but beyond that I don't see anything drastically wrong with this appointment, it's not like Jonathan Ross did a particularly good job to say the least and she's commented on films and stuff a fair bit in the british media. I'd have thought she might do a better job than Ross, on that basis no complaints whatsoever.

To be fair, Ross was always a knowledgeable and enthusiastic film-buff long before he got the Film [/insert date here] gig.

I could do the job for a fraction of her fee, but I'm not sure how many different ways there are to say "crap" or "dull" to make it appealing.

Kermode wasn't interested... says he doesn't like mainstream films enough. Ross knows his stuff about films, and is a real enthusiast. Dunno about Claudia... let's see...

I find the all pervading smell of popcorn and the sound of people incessently eating and drinking for 2 hours is enough to make me not want to waste my money going to the cinema to watch movies anyway...
Therefore I don't really need reviews.

By the time it's made it to terrestrial telly I'll know well enough if I want to watch it...

It's a perfect choice: the majority of films reviewed by the BBC Film YYYY over the past 8 years have also been suitably crap. Although there is a higher likelihood of me watching the program now...but that would involve me buying a television.
