So after waiting for what felt like forever, my new bike turned up on the back of a truck this morning.
I went for a Bianchi Nirone 2010 Road Bike which I managed to get through my brother-in-laws brother who manages a bike shop. He sold it to me at cost price as it was the last one in his shop. Nothing wrong with it at all, they just wanted rid to make space for some new stuff.
After a while of setting the handlebars, seat and putting on my new pedals I took it out for a spin. For some reason it wouldn't go into the the big chainring but that was easily fixed with a quick adjustment of the gear cable.
Over all I really can't fault it. It is a quick bike and weighs in at less than 10kg, which is great as I add another 80kg onto that with my own bodyweight (soon to change) maybe...
I have already added two high power headlights which I will be needing when I travel home from work on the night shift and have put on the back light that comes with the bike as standard (for now).
I am still waiting for a few things in the post before I can start commuting though so will probably start next week, which gives me the rest of this week and the weekend to practising clicking in and out of the pedals. I was fine for my first outing but I went out with no traffic so only stopped when I wanted to for a practice. I did fall over in the living room though when I was practising leaning against the wall
It's about time I start cycling to work, will save me a fair amount in fuel and I need the exercise at the moment while I nurse an injured shoulder. I also installed my Catseye Strada computer (I love eBay). I did what they recommend and measured a wheel rollout. Hopefully I measured it right and went with that rather than what they recommend for a 700x23c wheel.

Never been a small guy, was much bigger when I played sport 6 times a week though. Now I'm just carrying more body fat rather than muscle
