 Well done RT! Like TT, I had been wondering how you got on with your 1st commute in a long time ... did I read that right, a BEER at 5 AM?

MrP - surely there is a "long way home" commute route or two you could try, if you put your mind to it?

I used to buy my team a case of Stella at the end of a set of nights. An ice-cold lager at 7 in the morning after a hard weeks work was just awesome. My team called it "Inspector Cubist's Belgian debrief"!

Hey Well done RT, Keep it up fella & getting that appetite is very normal.

As after going on my big ride out after a long break from cycling once before led me munching one whole large pizza to myself??

Could never do that now tho?? Lol

On the food, last night I drank 75g of carbs in Torq recovery drink, and then ate two waitrose tv dinners. This after 45 miles of riding and 6 hours of skating lessons. Now I'm hungry again for a big breakfast. Love it!

+1

On nights your getting home after a full night shift and however long you were up before hand so it is like a normal end of day beer.

I always find on nights my commute is slower than on days, maybe its because my body clock is toast or my energy levels are all wrong so i just go with the flow and enjoy it.My last break is about 1.5 hours before clock off time so i would make sure i had a small bannana and a cuppa so i have the energy to get home.

Chapeau RT!

Give it 3 months you'll be doing it without having to plan or really think about it at all.

I'd go in by bike on alternate days to start with though eh............

Well done!!
I'm lucky, my full distance commute is uphill on the way to work and downhill home again - definitely the "right way round", IMHO.

Cheers folks. Alternate days? After Saturday morning's ride home I was thinking more of alternate weeks, or maybe alternate months.
No, with any luck I'll be riding it again tomorrow, and I'll try and eat a bit more before the ride home. I thought a big tub of pasta and some energy gel would be enough, but it definitely wasn't ...

I'm not going to post here every time I ride to work, but I did it again last night. That was so much better. 1:07 to get to work, and 1:11 to get home. It's amazing what a difference a banana and an energy bar make, eaten an hour before you set off. I flew home, and really enjoyed myself, even up the hills. I've remembered what it was that I used to enjoy so much about cycling and I'm beginning to wonder why I spent all that time off the bike.:becool:

In between here and there
I felt like that last week, done 4 full days of 15 miles each way, even went out for a quick burst Sunday and cardio down the Gym Saturday, took Monday off rode Tuesday and yesterday, and felt blown out last night and drove in this morning feel so guitly sat here having not ridden in.

Probably over done it. I wonder if I will ever get climatised to 5 day commutting.
