A good bike.

The giant defy range always get good reviews.

The 4,3 & 2 all use the same frame btw, so future upgrades if required are not a problem.

no - no stockists near me and its cycle to work scheme and i cant get out to try one

reading the gian website with the speil on the compact framing it says the medium would be the equivalent of a standard 55-57cm frame - my current bike is a 55cm frame

I have my saddle set about normalplace so on a L i would have it quite low.

That said i would have normaly got a L but when I rode the Defy 2 the M/L felt the best.

Go for the M/L . Your more or less the same height as me. If the M/L still feels a little stretched out you can flip the stem or even put a shorter one on. If you get the medium, you might feel cramped.
It's a shame you can't try one before you buy.
