Hi,

Can't believe I was pipped to the 1000 miles milestone by just 2 days!... http://www.cyclechat...rst-1000-miles/

Started commuting in March (6 miles), on my old cheapo mountain bike. Being overweight and unfit it was a real struggle. Tried it for the first time on a Saturday, and it took me over an hour and I stopped 3 times.
After about 15 commutes, I bought a new bike, and today my cycle computer ticked over the 1000 miles mark.

I'm keen to keep cycling, and am looking forward to the challenges of Winter (I see it as mainly a clothing issue). Whilst I haven't actually lost any weight, my legs are much stronger and I feel fitter, so changes are happening - and my commute now only takes around 30mins.

Like Baz, I'd just like to thank all those on here for their advice and input.

Hey MG congratulations !!!!!!!

1000 miles is a great acehievement. Keep it going through the winter if you can and you'll be fighting fit for the spring.

Excellent.

I'm a little stuffed with this one, as I regularly ride 4 bikes. Since I bought my hard-tail in June 2009, that one has done 890 miles, my road bike (bought in October) has about 650 and my CX (bought in February) has done about 750, with a few hundred more pounded on my 1990 MTB.

I reckon (I could / should go and check them all) I've done 2,500 in 15 months, but none of them has done the 1k individually. I should go for a ride, then I can at least get the HT over 900.

Great news. Weight loss isn't all that important - fitness, firm muscles and faster commute are.

Just gone over the 1,000 mile on my bike computer too. However this is my second (lost the first), and it took me some time before I bought a computer the first time.
