Hi mate, sorry, missed this post. Id did ride that night and I'm there most weeks with vastly differing times! My best on that course was my first of this year - 24'49 but came well down the rankings the night you mention.

Were you with the Strada chaps?

'orrible conditions last night on the Clevedon 10.
So bad in fact that only 3 riders competed !
Came 2nd with a disappointing time of 26:39

The conditions were not good and I'm sorry I wasn't there. It's getting very close to the Etape and I thought a time trial in wet conditions is not worth the risk (particularly knowing my luck).

Next week, if the weather's good, will meet up and have a pint if you're around.

So I did do my first 10 on Monday (see above) - never felt so knackered in my life. Felt like 15 miles, all over the place, never did find a rhythm. That said, was three seconds off my target of 32 minutes (32:03).

So, all in all, loved it!

I did my second 10TT last night, I made the mistake though of overestimating the climbing and removing the clip on tri bars, which I was striking with my knee last week, the wet conditions meant my rear wheel was slipping when I stood up so I couldn't stand up much anyway.

In Scotland you have to have a BC silver licence or pay for a day licence (expensive), one of the riders last night say its just a case of turning up in England?

Yes, you can do 3 TT's I understand as part of the 'Come and Try It' scheme, then I believe you have to join a club.
But obviously then you can do any club events.

Clevedon - memories. I used to stay there at a mate's place, it was about 800 metres to the start of the evening TT's - whcih went up the Gordano Valley road to Portishead and back. About 8 miles I think, so we went to play one night (about 50p each, which dates it!). About 18 minutes was not a bad ride, heavy road with a few little bumps and corners, round a triangular junction at Portishead to come back to the edge of Clevedon, by the school. So I guess they don't use that any more.. Nice old seaside town though!

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Just turned up - it's run every Monday, with Stockport Clarion and Manchester Wheelers taking turns to do the duties. Was very friendly too. More details: http://www.stockport-clarion.org.uk/TimeTrials/TT-Dates-2012.html

In other words - no excuse not to give it a go!

Think I'll give it a couple of weeks rest though.

Keep on meaning to have a do of that on a monday night- been busy every monday since the season started though. Going to norway on monday-might have a slot in a few weeks' time.

Sounds a good flat , although the triangle/roundabout at Portishead is fairly busy nowadays so may cause problems with TT'ers flying round it !!!
50p crikey - although they only charge £2 today so still the cheapest TT around !

Probably riding the Severn Evening 10 UC186 tomorrow, starts near Tockington.
