I'm looking for my very first road bike. I've never had one before, no idea what they are like to ride. I've entered a triathlon and am looking for a bike to ride over the summer whilst I prepare. I don't want to spend very much as i'm not sure whether it will be a fad or a lifelong hobby. I'm looking to spend around £200

I've found a Carrera TDF limited edition from 2014 at this price, both new and lightly used within £40 of each other. I've also seen a Giant SCR 4.0 which was a bike from 2008. I'm wondering whether a second hand giant from a few years ago will be a better bike than the new Carerra.

Don't know if it make a difference but i'm 5'3 and looking for a small bike.

Any advice?

The TDF's were always geared very high, which won't be nice if you are in a hilly area. I can't find the exact spec of the Giant, but

If you are anywhere near a Decathlon store, and can go to £250, get one of these:
