First Buses - Excellent

I've had some discussion with First Bus complaints dept. (Greater Manchester) about the standard of their driving around cyclists, as well as some exchanges on YouTube.

I'm pleased to say that my last 6 encounters with them, over a 25 mile distance (one commute home and one to work), have been good to excellent:


I like to think that they have been discussing how to pass cyclists as a result of my efforts. It's also possible that Magnatom's visit to the Edinburgh depot has something to do with it.

We are about to start an internal safety alert campaign as a reminder to
our 2000 drivers across West Yorkshire and York on the importance of
allowing adequate space for cyclists when overtaking.

Wonder if it's company-wide? We'll see. Worth keeping the pressure up

I hope so. I've made a point of posting the good passes on YouTube to show appreciation. (The drivers and their mates always seem to find the bad ones.)

I think if buses start to set a really good example, it could have a knock-on effect on other drivers because there are so many buses around.
