Which roundabout where you hit at? (If its South Gosforth roundabout, I'm definitely going to use the path instead of that!)

Hope all goes well!

Na mate it was in South Shields, I think I know which roundabout you mean though and it can be really dodgy at times.

Yeah it's that double mini roundabout, just before you get to M Steels. I feel bad cycling on the path around there, but I really can't afford to get hit/die -- it hurts

Have you been on any of the recent club runs? What's it like on ice in a group?

Oh, there are going to be more club runs during the Christmas Holiday, did you get the email?

I might be out, I've been feeling ill, but managed some interval + LT training on my turbo today, so I think I might be okay to go out providing I eat correctly

BC and CTC have cottoned on to this - you usually need to join up for a while.... although there is nothing stopping you calling CTC's or BC's solicitors directly.

The main thing about being a member of either is the third party cover - i.e. when the other party tries to counter claim etc.... you are covered.

Word of advice to the OP. Don't try and quickly settle privately...... injuries can take a week or two to show up......took 2 weeks for my AC joint to start causing problems...still here with it 12 months later.

With a private settlement, it can be tricky to claim should anything go wrong later, and they usually have a shock when they see a simple repair bill. A few scratches on my bike's components came to only £200, but £2k of physio is another story...

So...get legal advise - is it available through your home insurnace - check the policy.

+1 fossy i joined CTC as a x mas prezzie when i read their benefits, luckily i have not been hit yet but you cannot be to careful.
Speaking to someone at work who had a car crash be careful to use the recommended physio`s as although they got treatment quicker it did reduce their claim by 30 % because they did not.

ouch glad yer ok , if you claim aginst her for damges an personal injury it may take a while for any recompense from the insurers.
Made a claim long time ago against a woman who totaled my TREK Y22 ( CHURCHILL INSURANCE ) they sent around an assessor to check the bike out.It was in mint condition prior to the crash as i was a bike mechanic then.Got Tboned at a junction 200 yds from home ...forks twisted , front and rear wheels like pretzels, bars bent .
Was sent 12 ft into the air luckily for me her bonnet broke my fall ,just avoided going through her windscreen, the bike landed in a garden.
Her exscuse WAS DIDNT SEE ME .
Her husband said she was still in shock cause she'd nearly knocked over some kid further down the road who ran in front of her.
Couldnt walk for nearly a week when the bruising came out......
Any how made the mistake of NOT going to the hospital to get checked over... which some how affected the claim??? even though I only claimed for damage to cycle and my gortex jkt. and camelback they wanted to know if I was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident
Took nearly 9 months to get any thing back ...then only 1/2 the full value of bike .
GOOD LUCK MATE GIVE EM HELL.

Oh and does anyone have any advice/experiences on claiming etc?

Thanks
Andrew

I was offed a few weeks back in a very similar way (except that she was faster so I went into her door). I phoned her insurance co and had a chat with the chappie on the line. When he mentioned 'market value' rather than cost of replacement, I mentioned 'ambulance chasers'. Worked for me, as I banked the cheque (for a new bike, jacket and helmet) just before xmas.
