It's quite exciting all this isn't it

This is my first ever vid, and it's 54 minutes condensed into 1:29 so bear with me
The camera is a cheapo £13.00 ebay special, I mounted it on the stem hence the vibration.
It's just a few "snapshots," supposed to show how it copes showing traffic and differing light levels.
It was a bit gloomy when I started out, so bear that in mind as well as the thirteen quid cost of the camera

I got some on the way home too, but I helmet mounted it and most of the time it's pointing at the ground.
I'll see if any of it's worth uploading.

EDIT: Bits of the return jouney uploaded (mercifully short  )

Nice one ;)

That truck at the beginning looked a bit close. What that the case, or just the cameras perspective?

Most of it is camera perspective.

It was a little close though, that RAB is usually chaotic at that time in the morning and you generally have to ride fairly assertively to get out.
I think I misjudged it, and charged out, when in fact there was no need to ;)

Which camera did you buy? Think I'm gonna buy a lil Cam to film my commute. That white van seemed a little close.

If you're interested ,I'll put the details up although I believe there may be links on here already somewhere.

The White van was very close. Thing is, I entered the roundabout a little aggressively so it seemed like Karma that the van tried to squish me ;)

 Don't take me very seriously. Actually I'm really chuffed you've joined the camera crowd, well done!!!

Thank you, I'm chuffed to have joined

Right, here's a few bits of the return journey, the camera fairs way better in good daylight, unsurprisingly.
The light does fade quickly towards the end though, and you can really see it in the final clip.

Sorry, I forgot to kill the sound on this one, you'll see how I got my username now....

It's very pixelated, it's nowhere near that bad on the original, although it is flagged as "still processing."

No, he was opening a gate which seemed to lead to a small housing estate.
Confused me a bit actually as he seemd to circle round before going through.

Sorry, there's no Sparrowhawk footage either, it just didn't come out clearly enough!

Nice bit of footage. lets hope you don't get too much trouble on film.

It was good to watch those Panter, not bad for £11. Is that all you spent or did you need to get cables, cards and stuff?

As Gaz says - hope you don't get to film too much trouble. It looks like a scenic route in parts. When the camera was mounted on the bike I wanted to turn my head and see what was approaching the roundabout ;)

Not bad quality at all, and good job on sussing the editing quickly. I think I'll order one when all the sellers get back from their New Year holidays!

Thanks all

Hopefully it won't ever get used "in anger" but I'm doubtfull....

Here's a link to the camera I bought and here's the link to the thread where I first heard about it on another forum that has a load more info and demo footage (hope thats Ok mods, its only a small, local MTB forum.)

You get a choice of mounts in the box, and a silicone case, the lead is included and the battery is internal.
It's all a little flimsy, as to be expected, but IMO is still outstandingly good value.

All I had to buy in addition was a Micro SD card (I bought the maximum supported size, 8GB) and thats it, ready to go.
Apparently a class 6 card is the best to go for (I dont even know what that is) but I just bought the cheapest, decent one I could find which was a Sandisk one for ~ £12.00 delivered.

Battery life seems variable.
The quoted runtime is 2 Hours but I only got 54 minutes on the journey in and 29 minutes on the way home, I suspect I'll have to play around with the charge times.

Now I have the SD card, I think I may just buy another camera purely to extend battery life.
I've no idea what the lifetime of these things wil be (I suspect not great) but it seems a vey cheap way to have a go and see if bike cameras are worth a go.

HTH
