Did my first proper commute in this morning, should take just under half an hour but instead took about 40 minutes due to all the mud on a path down a hill I take - slippy as!
I really enjoyed it! I feel quite energised now at work although I get the feeling I'll sleep well tonight! I rode in on my 2015 Specialized Crosstrail. It was the bike I bought last year when I first got into cycling and I confess it's not right for me. I use my road bike at weekends and on the roads this morning it felt ever so sluggish.
I'm planning on purchasing a Genesis Croix de Fer 10 on the Cyclescheme Wiltshire council offer as the research I've done lead me to believe it will be more fun on the roads whilst still being able to handle the off-road sections. If I'm wrong please let me know so I can avoid a costly error!
