Well I did my first ever commute to work today-more by accident than by design as the car broke yesterday!! Did a 16 mile round trip as I took the scenic route home as it was so lovely!
Did the basic 5.3 door to door miles in 23 mins which I thought was good and wasnt even out of puff when I got there-infact I felt more awake than usual;)
Got a bit of stick for turning up on bikey but no more than I expected! The ride home was painful tho as I went to see horsey at dinnertime and he was playing up as had been teased by some *&%$£&*@ brats:angry:and I ended up wrenching my shoulder really badxx(
Doing it again tomorrow as the car wont be fixed till tomorrow evening........

Don't fall back on the car when it's "fixed!" Remember how invigorated you felt being your own engine? That's your brain and sinews drunk on oxygen! Oxygen and endorphins are natural drugs designed by nature -- better even than chocolate and wine.

More inspiration here.

Very true! Did wonder what on earth I was thinking when my alarm went thismorning and I remembered how I was getting to work as I could have got a lift in:becool: So glad I rode tho-felt great and spent all day looking forward to a nice long ride home:biggrin:

Well done. I agree you need to avoid jumping back in the car. Now you've popped the cherry you need to keep going.

As for folk giving you stick at work, you'll be the one laughing when you fly past them stuck in traffic!

Well done.....

TBH...... you'll soon give the car a miss..... dunno why but it 'happens'....

OK only ICE stops me, it's to unpredictable..... but howling gales, torrential rain....etc.... I'd be mightily not too chuffed if I'd taken the car (and we have two, one sits there all week, mine....)..but I ride.....

Folk will think you are some loon, or completely great...... I'm now the on site mechanic...... (usually a 10 second fix is needed)......

Just keep it up....I hate driving in, despite having climate control, loads of buttons to play with, fab sound system...... etc.....hate driving these days (PS I did a 60 mile round trip for 8 years in the car...drove me nuts).....

Ahhh, the worm has now turned for you Lisa
You will soon be wondering why you didn't start riding in sooner! Makes you feel so much better after arrival in the morning, as you noticed

Keep it up
