The bike broke! 17 Miles in, (and 2 in the wrong direction) I shifted down a gear on a junction with a sudden slope, while barely moving and the rear mech caught in the spokes. It's worked fine for years, so I'm surprised it did, obviously I need more maintenance. It was then I spotted that my new saddle bag, packed with tools was missing too!
Luckily I'd left enough time that I could make temporary repairs, bend the mech back to a usable shape and wind the spoke through the others, enough to do the last 3 miles, very slowly and get to my first meeting on time! I also found a lovely bike shop (big Bills Bikes), who fixed the wheel for me while I had a meeting. Home on single speed and my legs hurt!
Still - the ferry was lovely, and sunny. This morning I was the only passenger!
Edit - added a capital B to Big Bills bikes, otherwise it reads differently. They were actually quite cheap!
