I'll probably do mine this weekend. Got a traing camp in Majorca in a couple of weeks time so legs will be smooth and tanned when I come back

Just come back from mine last weekend. You will find it more expensive than last year. But, it was excellent. Oh, and the road from LLuc to Puig Major is open again. It was closed for quite a few months following a major land slip that removed the road for about 50 yds.

Oh - shaving; probably this weekend. I noticed a lot of hairy legs in last weeks race.

I shave my legs on a regular basis, but that's 'cos I'm a girl!
I've gotta say I like my men hairy and if Mr Plax (who has hair everywhere other than the top of his head) ever shaved his legs he'd get a slap. He'd look downright silly for a start.
Do you shave your arms as well? Surely those of you with hairy arms would get just as much drag from hairy arms as you would with hairy legs .

We don't shave our arms because it's not about drag... well, the aerodynamic type anyway...

I know, next they'll be comparing how long it takes them to do their hair and get ready in the morning ;).

Depends whether we're putting the full 'slap' on after we've shaved...

Now you mention it...

What are the tools of choice for legs? Gillette Mach3 for me - with original blades as I find the newer versions aren't as effective and don't last as long.

This is one thing I really don't understand, the leg shaving thing.

I completely understand that pros do it to to lessen the effects of road rash, because they go fast and furious often enough to justify it.

I can only assume therefore that amateur leg shavers are trying to give the impression that they spill a lot due to the competitive and serious nature of their cycling.

If you read Matt Seaton's excellent little book The Escape Artist, you will understand that leg shaving is a rite of passage for roadies who are becoming serious roadies; it's all part of the roadie obsession with cleanliness, aesthetics, matching kit and looking the part. As Seaton says, you wouldn't turn up in a professional peloton with hairy legs. Full stop.

I did it years ago in France and got knocked off a cliff on an Alpine road, with lots of gravel rash all over me so shan't do it again.

Can you get summer longs then? As i really dont fancy shaving mine !

Yes they are called shorts

I don't shave my legs as it's a bit girly, but then I hardly ever shave my face.

What about the stubble.....combined with a partner's stubbly legs, could lead to a small fire
