I went for an afternoon trundle in the p*ssin down yesterday (Sunday) I thought i'd avoid my usual off road tracks as they'd be waterlogged, so i stuck to the roads. Unsure which way to head i just set off and went with the flow, anyway heading towards Norden from where Asda is in Rochdale i was bombing (well not bombing, more 'ambling') down the road, head down to keep rain out of my face, i heard a lot shout from a Car traveling in the opposite direction, So i look up and seen what i think was an apple fly from the car window towards me and a group of young lads laughing their heads off!!!! Luckily said apple missed me, but i must admit i felt a bit lonely and vulnerable after that incident!!. i like a laugh and a joke, but to me that is beyond. i was fuming! Anyway i continued and completed 11 miles in the Rain!

Not nice at all to have assorted fruit chucked at one - perhaps they thought you needed help with your five a day - but well done on your rainy ride. I hope you dried out OK.

A few missles have been aimed at me in the past six months, I've been spat at, and had stick thrown at my wheels, I was even "shot at" by some kind of catipult from a moving car, (hit my back pack but it was still enough to wind me) I tried to chase down that car, but was held up by some one turning left across the flow of traffic.
I guess that it is part ofthe hazards of life when you look as awesome as I do on a WDS BSO, Envy is a cruel mistress.

Well done on getting out in the rain, so many dont, I quite like it when out, I just dont like setting of in it.
Had something like that, whilst in Kent, some years ago, this was a drinks can. I was staying at eurka at the time, and when I got back I was livid, so went for a swim. A car behind them stopped and asked if I was ok, fortunately it hit the headstock.

You are progressing fast: it took me a year of commuting before I had my first "idiot" shouted from a car window, another couple of months to get a menacing pointed finger. Haven't got stuff thrown at me yet

Over the years I have had apples, footballs, batteries and fireworks thrown at me normally in the same 2 streets. In fact in dedication to these idiots I created an aptly named Strave segment to them http://app.strava.com/segments/1605982

Well to be fair, i have been expecting it, it's still a shock when it happens though!
Maybe they were jealous of my Lycra shorts!
Or they were just simply dropped on their heads as kids!
Anyway, the rainy ride was enjoyable apart from that episode. It has made me realise that a regular cycling buddy would be a good thing.
