First Mushroom

Yup,

Got our first mushroom tonight.

Bought a 'kit' a few weeks ago.... now't happened, had a shufty tonight and there is a big 7cm closed cup mushroom ready - it will be in breakfast tomorrow. First of many I hope.

Our garlic, onions and chillies are sprouting too.

This might sound sad, but it's exciting, innit? We had a kit as a Christmas pressie a couple of years ago and got a couple of crops from it.

Anyone watch Heston the other night trying to persuade the world that fly agaric were the magic mushrooms that inspired a generation of artists and songwriters? He then goes in search of a cousin of amanita muscaria to put in one of his dishes, and ends up spending a fortune on a basket of hand-picked by peasant wild mushrooms. Waste of time.... not one person got the wets, or chased home by a cartoon dinosaur

I once went to a friend's house an hour after they had all eaten fly agarics. It was one of the most bizaar sights that I've seen. Most of them thought that they could fly and were launching themselves of the furniture and crashing into each other. Some were trying to run up the walls and all of them were spouting gibberish.

I declined their generous offer to share some with me and went off to a safer psilocybin social gathering instead.
