But it was so nice, just to ride at a nice pace, letting the bike do the work. When it's light, I usually end up hammering myself, but tonight it was just fun.

Same, for some reason I don't feel any compulsion to put much gas down over winter - better just to enjoy being out. I spent the last couple of weeks dreading the clocks going back but after a couple of nights you get used to it and don't give it anymore thought.

The chain is jumping a bit so I'll have to fit another cassette and another Hope light is on order. But, getting there!
It may just be me but I would never buy anything called 'hope' ^_^.

Trust that things have got better for you since.

I got a glimpse of daylight yesterday as I left work half an hour early. Today it was almost totally dark setting off, and pitch black when I got home. Dark in the mornings as well. When will this putting the clocks back madness end?
Its helped me. I generally leave at 7am and return 5pm. It would need lights on going both ways but the clocks going back has meant i have only needed "to be seen" lights in the morning.

Probably got another week before full lights needed both ways.

I would say 20% of my daily commute is in complete darkness. This part is a narrow path next to the Thames, so no cars at all; but there are other cyclists with quite powerful lights that tend to blind me. It is quite annoying and I wish people were more thoughtful about the rest of us.
